Alegria is a mischievous design that pays homage to the playful and exotic Chinese figures who adorned so much of the porcelain introduced to Europe in the 18th Century. We have found a home for our charming little characters, in the flowering trees — either nestled amongst flowers blossoms, balancing on branches together with little pagodas and under darting song birds. It is a delightful effect that is not quite a toile and not quite a porcelain scene, but borrows from both with much charm.
